Brush and Compost  - Closed

  • Reopening the compost and brush site is not feasible for a few residents in comparison to the Township population.
  • The tax payers have expressed concerns with paying for something that is unnecessary when brush and compost can be maintained on your own property or brought to the Wright County facility.
  • The brush and compost site was a courtesy (not a service) for many years to residents.  The Board implemented measures to monitor the site, such as signs and cameras but was unable to stop illegal dumping from Township residents, non-residents, and commercial vehicles.  Other issues were, verbal attacks to the staff and the inability to monitor (after business hours) the burning of the brush as required.
  • The Township population is approx. 3,400 and an estimate (from camera footage) of 20-40 residents using the site may not warrant an additional expense to tax payers. The Board has reviewed the expense for managing the brush pile and determined this is not feasible for a few residents to use when the population is approximately 3,400.
  • Residents of Rockford Township have larger parcels and the ability to burn their own brush and start their own compost if needed. You may obtain a burn permit through the office or on the DNR website.  The other option is bringing your brush to Wright County.
