Brush and Compost Site

  • The Town Board may discuss reopening the brush and compost site in the future but at this time it will remain closed.

  • The brush and compost site was a courtesy (not a service) for many years to residents.  The Board implemented measures to monitor the site, such as signs and cameras but was unable to stop illegal dumping from Township residents, non-residents, and commercial vehicles.  Other issues were, verbal attacks to the staff and the inability to monitor (after business hours) the burning of the brush as required.

  • The Township population of 3,400 and an estimate (from camera footage) of 20-40 residents using the site may not warrant an additional expense to tax payers. The Board is reviewing the expense for managing the brush pile and if this should be a budget item for the future.

  • Residents may obtain a burn permit through the office or on the DNR website.  The other option is bringing your brush to Wright County.
